Flowcrete Hong Kong has successfully launched and completed its first CPD Seminar to the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT), exploring the important role of screeds and underlayments in the build-up of a floor in commercial environments.
Often overlooked, the screed layer, which provides a smooth, flat substrate prior to the installation of final floor finishes including tile, vinyl, terrazzo and resin amongst others, is a crucial cog in preventing costly floor failure further down the line.
Entitled, How to Avoid Screed Failure, the seminar examines a variety of topics related to screeding materials including the different classifications and BS standards of screed products as well as offering advice on specification, application and testing.
The seminar provides attendees with both an overview and comparison of common screed types and their application, identifies the most common causes of screed failure and how to avoid them as well as how to correctly specify screed materials. .
The green aspects of screeding materials are also covered along with interaction and sharing of experience working with different proprietary and non-proprietary materials.
Following the seminar, attendees are able to:
- Understand the correct specification of floor screeds
- Identify different screed types are the respective application area
- Understand how to avoid screed failure
